About WCARC

The Woodford County Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) is an organization of amateur radio operators in Woodford County Kentucky. The club has approximately 10 members. Thanks to the dedicated effort of some experienced operators in recruiting new HAMs, the club was reorganized in October 1992 from the dormant Woodford Amateur Radio Society. Since it’s revival, the WCARC has been active in community affairs. The club has organized an active ARES® group in Woodford County, supplies communications support for local events such as the Versailles Holiday Parade and the Jaycess 5k Run and is active in training new hams. There are also club events to participate in on a regular basis. The A.R.R.L. field day that is held each June is a major event. One year the club sponsored a special events station at the Kentucky Horse Park the weekend before the Kentucky Derby. During the year there are antenna building parties, fox hunts, the Christmas Party and the ever popular let’s get together, cook out and eat! Last, but not least, don’t forget the annual fund raiser, the raffle for various prizes donated by local businesses.

The WCARC exists to be of service to the community in which we live and to enjoy the fellowship of other amateurs, and to bring in new licensed operators through training classes, and mentoring the new amateurs in setup and operation of the hobby.

If you are interested in becoming an Amateur Radio operator or if you are currently a HAM and would like to find out more about the WCARC we would be glad to have you visit the club meetings.
